Bhopal dancers represent India at International Zouk Festival

Representing India at the International Zouk Dance Festival online, two dancers of Bhopal have made the city proud. The event to promote the Brazilian dance is held as a group event every year, with participants from several countries across the globe. In 2020, the event was hosted online. To make the video even more interesting, the two dancers shot it at the historic Iqbal Maidan, giving it a desi twist.

BHOPAL: Representing India at the International Zouk Dance Festival online, two dancers of Bhopal have made the city proud. The event to promote the Brazilian dance is held as a group event every year, with participants from several countries across the globe. In 2020, the event was hosted online. To make the video even more interesting, the two dancers shot it at the historic Iqbal Maidan, giving it a desi twist.
The event is held on International Zouk Day, the third Saturday of September, when thousands of dancers come together to celebrate their love for the unique dance.

Dancing to the song ‘Dance of Love’ by Paulo Mac, the virtual flash mob took place in over 191cities from 40 countries and four continents.
Choreographer Raunaque Sidana and Kanupriya Gupta of Bhopal practised and shot a 30-second video at Iqbal Maidan, on Saturday, with glimpses of Old Bhopal in the background. The video was sent to the organizers, who will combine all the videos and release it in the first week of October. The international event was organised by choreographers and Zouk dance experts Remy Vermunt from the Netherlands, Merzena Christoforou from Cyprus, Alisson Rodrigues Sandi from Australia, Yaroslav Zhovnirenko from Ukraine and Shalini Sen from India.
